time cube (???)
09:49 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001
um, i don't know what this is about, but it certainly strikes me as being funny. i am quite confused. it is beyond comprehension. maybe i am being scammed by academia?
the worst of the worst - very bad music
09:46 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001
this is pretty self-explanatory, and very, very funny. be sure to check out "raptacular" and take a swing through the "religious" section as well--the noah's ark song is pretty funny, especially when you get to the chorus...
ooh, my siliconsalley.com column!
05:07 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001
look, ma, my first column for siliconsalley.com! it's about the "new economy." as usual, there is a rush to my head of all the things i could have said or put in. it seems tremendously facile to me, and i feel like i could have penetrated into things just a little more. but still, it's a good start. i think?
FILM SOUND DESIGN
12:49 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001
much of the art of filmmaking is actually not visual--here's a great page on sound design in film, with a good mix of theoretical and practical readings. i love this page.
girls write now!
09:42 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001
one of the cool things about doing the silicon salley interview was having people who i've lost touch with write me. this group is a mentor program pairing up women writers with teenage girls to help them develop as writers and artists. it is a fantastic group of people and a fantastic program, and i miss being a part of it. i highly suggest that you start one or join a program like this because it's a fantastic experience.
silicon salley

okay, so this is a little self-promotional. *blush* but i have been swingin' this site for a bit now, and it's a great resource for women who are consciously using the internet and questioning the way this technology is changing their lives and their roles as women. rock!
turn your computer keyboard into a musical instrument!

practicing pubic politics
08:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001
as someone deeply interested in politics, art and action, this article naturally caught my eye--especially since SFAI was a school that i was interested in going to, before i began to question the very idea of art school...

my new computer
11:33 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2001
oooooooooh. i really shouldn't be buying this, right? (actually i reasoned that i really do need to have a computer, which is sorta scary.) still, i'm superexcited at all the lovely RAM i'm gonna have. yes, i am a total GEEK.
further proof that the taliban are evil and suck ass
04:39 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2001
not only do they perpetrate horrible abuses against women, against men and against children, and not only are the horrible religious extremists with a fucked-up "interpretation" of the koran, but they are insane. i grew up buddhist, so i take this shit very personally.
make yr own boy band!

heavy.com

guitar tablature
04:49 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001
this is pretty self-explanatory. i try to sound things out by ear a lot, but to be honest i'm not that great. (i just can't convince myself that i'm hearing what i think i hear. can someone tell me how one goes about developing a "good ear"?) so using tabs helps me to figure things out in terms of chord progressions, since i'm pretty decent at figuring out strum patterns and rhythm.
what the heck is emo, anyway?
04:40 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001
i mentioned this in my journal, but a good amount of people have said that they dug this little explanation of the history and genealogy of the much-misunderstood genre of "emo." i will forever heart heroin, portraits of past, angel hair, swing kids, and others...
b&h photo and video!

pj harvey live in paris webcast
10:03 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001
this is a neat-o little webcast that i found of my gal polly at a pretty awesome music site--if you can read francais, of course! this is her show a couple of days ago in paris, and she always rocks. this will be up until march 11 or so, i believe...
